Flu Information
A free H1N1 and seasonal flu vaccine clinic will be held on Wednesday, February 24, 2010 from 12:00pm - 4:00pm. The clinic is available to all Saint Paul College students, faculty and staff. The clinic will be located at Saint Paul College in conference rooms 2320 and 2330.
- H1N1 vaccine offered through Saint Paul Ramsey County Public Health. Nurses from the Minnesota Visiting Nurse Agency will administer the vaccine.
- Seasonal flu vaccine is available free of charge to all students, faculty and staff through a grant from Kohl's Department Stores and Children's Hospital.
- Health insurance card(s) or a photo copy (front only) is required if you have insurance. Visiting nurses will bill insurance companies for the cost of the administration of the vaccine; The H1N1 vaccine itself is free. Those students without insurance will also be eligible for free H1N1 and seasonal flu vaccines.

Important! Report your absence due to flu
If you miss class due to the flu, please contact the College by calling or e-mailing. A special phone line and designated e-mail box have been set up for your convenience. The contact information is listed below. When calling or e-mailing, be prepared to tell us your first name, last name, and student ID. Once you have contacted the College, your instructors will be informed of your absence due to the flu.
Saint Paul College administration and staff are working to keep updated on influenza concerns, primarily the H1N1 virus.
Experts note that it is important to follow the precautions outlined at the Center for Disease Control (CDC) and Minnesota Department of Health (MDH) Web sites listed in the Quick Links box.
Healthcare professionals are reminding people to:
- Cover your cough.
- Stay home if you are ill.
- Call your healthcare provider before going to a healthcare facility unless it is an emergency.
- Maintain healthy daily practices.
Following standard hygiene practices is critical.
- Cover your nose and mouth with a tissue when you cough or sneeze. Throw the tissue in the trash after use.
- Wash your hands with soap and water, especially after you cough or sneeze. Alcohol based hand cleaners are also effective.
- Avoid close contact with anyone who appears sick.
- If you get sick, stay home from work or school, and limit your contact with others.
- Avoid touching your eyes, nose or mouth.
Symptoms of Possible Influenza:
- Fever over 100.4
- Cough
- Sore throat
- Nasal congestion
Seeking Medical Attention
If you have two or more of the possible influenza symptoms AND have traveled to a high-risk area or have been in contact with an ill person who has been in a high-risk area, you meet the criteria for testing.
If you need testing, please visit your clinic or local hospital.
