Human Resources AAS Graduate

The reason I chose Saint Paul College for my AAS HR degree was because I was able to get a solid education in a short period of time. It has also allowed me to get in the workforce earlier so that I am able to build my experience immediately, so that I can move up in my career at an earlier time. It has also been a great base for the 4-year degree I am currently obtaining and I am able to get this 4-year degree while working full-time in my HR career.

One of the greatest qualities about the staff was their teaching style. All my classes were taught with the "real world" in mind. We learned by mocking real world HR situations, instead of learning solely on papers and tests. I have been able to take these mock situations into the workforce and use my classroom experience and learning in my everyday work experiences. This has definitely given me an edge in my company with my learning curve.

I would highly recommend this program to those who are anxious to get into the workforce. It is a well-rounded program that touches on all the important aspects of the HR field and thoroughly prepares you for a career in HR.

During my education at Saint Paul College I was able to obtain a position as a HR assistant, where I had an internship that turned into a full-time job. This also helped enhance my career goals. After graduation, I immediately obtained a rewarding position as a Benefit Specialist with Ceridian Employer Services. My education prepared me for the interview and question process and my internship gave me the step above the other candidates. I have been in the HR field for 1½ years now and if I would have originally gone for the bachelor's degree instead of the AAS, I would still be in school, with no HR background. I am that much further ahead in my career and that much closer to reaching my ultimate career goals.

I came to Saint Paul College through the post-secondary options program, which was available to me during my senior year in high school. I chose to pursue the human resources program and am truly grateful I did because it opened the door to a vast number of career opportunities and challenges that were very exciting and interesting to me.

These opportunities would not have been available without the dedication of the program advisor and HR instructors; their dedication to the HR field, to the students, and to the student's success. The instructors at Saint Paul College have true "real-world" and "hands-on" experience that make the transfer of knowledge so much easier and clear, as well as motivating. All of the theories and concepts that are important to know and understand were translated into real world examples that I could bring back to the workplace and feel confident in what I was doing.

I had several HR internships while enrolled in the program, which allowed me to gain some of that "real world" experience that was taught in all of my classes. However, I feel very confident that if I did not do an HR internship, I would have still been very well equipped with the skills necessary to obtain an entry level position and to ultimately succeed in a human resources career.

The greatest benefit of the HR programs is that I was able to work in a field I have a passion for and still have the opportunity to choose the industry I wanted to work in. In my 4½ years since graduation I have been exposed to the healthcare field, the manufacturing industry, and the high tech industry; in each of these industries I was utilizing the skills I gained from the HR programs at Saint Paul College. It was not only a benefit for me professionally, but personally as well. Having obtained my AAS degree allowed me to start working and achieving my personal career goals, while earning a great wage, and while continuing my education to obtain my bachelors degree. If I had not started out at Saint Paul College, I'm not sure where I'd be today personally or professionally.

I would highly recommend this program to anyone who has a desire to succeed in a professional environment. The Human Resources field offers the opportunity to work as a generalist or a specialist; with technical, detail oriented projects or with abstract employee relations issues; the classes are hands-on; the instructors have "real world" experience, and are dedicated to your success!

I received a certificate as a Human Resources Professional from the Saint Paul College. The HR program that I attended through Saint Paul College helped give me hands on experience in a wide variety of Human Resources issues. This program gave me the confidence to perform the duties of my position.

I chose Saint Paul College because it offered a Human Resources program on Saturday's. Human resources professionals who have actually worked in HR positions developed the curriculum. Each class prepares you for real life situations and the capstone projects helped to develop our skills in specific areas of human resources.

I've been telling everyone how great the every other Saturday and online classes have been. With a full time job and a family, this was the only way I could have taken classes. I really appreciate the flexibility!
