Human Resources Student Experience

Trevor Adamek, Student
Human Resources Associate of Applied Science Degree

I am currently enrolled in the Human Resource Program at Saint Paul College. I chose Saint Paul College because I want to pursue a career in Human Resources and the HR degree offered by Saint Paul College will enable me to take classes related to HR. Also, my friends spoke highly of the teachers at Saint Paul College. The reason why I chose this program was because I want to see people/employees get the same advantages in their careers that everyone else is getting.

The benefits of Saint Paul College, over another college, are the smaller class sizes and the teachers get to know their students. Also, you are able to start taking the classes that you are interested in right away you don't have to wait until you have completed general education classes. I have attended another community college before transferring to Saint Paul College. The thing that I like the most is that the teachers are up to date and they know what is going on in the HR field. This is their career choice and they handle HR issues on a daily basis.

I have not done an internship yet, but in my present job as a supervisor I am able to deal with human resource issues. I understand the HR department manager's viewpoint while trying to help the employee. It is exciting when I come across a HR issue because I have an idea about what the issue is and how to resolve it.

Human Resources Generalist Certificate

I have wanted to be an HR professional for as long as I remember. When I finally decided to pursue my dreams I tried to make it as easy as possible for myself by just simply choosing the closest school with an HR program. Well that school ended up being Saint Paul College. From the day of orientation I knew that I made the right choice. The orientation made me feel very welcome and my insecurities about coming back to school after a while were soon gone.

Once I started the Human Resource Generalist program, I became more and more sure that this was the school for me. The classes I have taken, and the classes that I am currently taking, are great. I instantly grew a passion for the HR program at Saint Paul College. The teachers are exactly what I want in a teacher. They are very informed on all the HR issues and they bring world issues into the classroom to keep you informed on all issues in HR, as well as new trends in HR They also gave me the resources that I need to be a successful HR Generalist. I plan on graduating in May 2002, and feel that I will be ready to excel in HR when I have completed this program. Once I go on to complete my four-year Bachelors degree, I will be ready thanks to the support, knowledge, and hard work from all my HR instructors at Saint Paul College.

I believe that the best thing about Saint Paul College is their instructors. All of the instructors in the HR program bring real life experiences to every class, which makes each class more enjoyable. Also these stories show you how you will be using your skills that you are developing.

The instructors are also very easy to talk to. Whenever you have a question or a problem, they are there to help you. Each instructor will help you with any class, even if they are not teaching it. The classes give you hands on experience and you often work in groups. The groups help give you many different perspectives on the same situation or problem.

The HR program is great for any younger or older student. Students often bring their own work experience into the classroom and it is a great place to network for job opportunities. The smaller classes and group activities allow you to get to meet and know almost all the students in the program.

Right now I am currently in the internship program. This is probably one of the best experiences I have had. I am able to bring my skills from the HR classes and use them directly in my internship.
