The Minnesota History "Web Enhanced" summer course combines online instruction with visits to metro-area historic sites to create a truly unique learning environment that takes students beyond the traditional classroom! Transportation is provided to those sites not within walking distance of the College.

A tentative list of historic sites the class will visit includes:

  • The Minnesota History Center, Saint Paul
  • Sibley House Historic Site, Mendota
  • Historic Fort Snelling, Saint Paul
  • Alexander Ramsey House, Saint Paul
  • Minnesota State Capitol, Saint Paul
  • James J. Hill House, Saint Paul
  • Mill City Museum, Minneapolis

  • HIST 1750 01 - MN History "Web Enhanced"
  • Wednesdays: 1:00pm - 4:00pm
  • Begin Date: 6/4/08 (W)
  • End Date: 7/24/08 (W)
  • ½ of the contact time is completed online
  • 3 credits (MnTC Goal 5, Goal 10)

Requirements:  To be successful in this course, students must:

  • have on-going access to a computer with a stable connection to the internet
  • be able to attend all class meetings on Wednesday afternoons
  • have adequate time in their summer schedule to complete assigned readings, participate in internet discussions, write papers and prepare for exams
  • be able to read and write at a college level

Coursework for HIST 1750 01 MN History "Web Enhanced"
This class has virtually no traditional classroom component as all learning and evaluation will take place at historic sites or online. Traditional lectures are replaced by visits to historic sites, while discussions and exams are completed (and papers submitted) online through an interactive course Web site.

All class sessions will begin at Saint Paul College at 1:00pm. Saint Paul College will provide transportation to metro-area historic sites (outside of walking distance) at no cost to enrolled students.
