Program Overview

This program identifies the processes, equipment, systems and information needed to obtain employment in a power generating facility or a refinery. Through lab exercises and internships in industry related facilities, students focus on one of two options: the Energy Production Technician emphasis or the Process Plant Technology emphasis.

What You'll Learn

  • How to use measuring tools associated with mechanical repair, including personal computers and instrumentation.
  • How to safely use a variety of hand tools commonly associated with mechanical repair, metallurgy, shop machines, and system diagrams.
  • How to recognize the basic purpose, structure and operation of a plant system, including boiler and auxiliary equipment; combustion, condensers, and circulating water.
  • Knowledge of the operation of Gas Turbines and diesels.
