Machine Tool Technology

Overview

Machinists and toolmakers are skilled craftsmen who make the precision metal parts that are highly specialized and not mass produced. They make precision components and specialized tooling such as plastic injection molds and metal stamping dies. Their parts are made to exact specifications by removing excess metal with the aid of machine tools, numerically controlled machines, computer assisted machinery, and precise measuring and gauging equipment. Overall, machinists and toolmakers are involved in developing goods from design to production. As the economy expands, so will the demand for manufactured goods that require machined metal parts. Graduates can apply training received at the College towards the completion of apprenticeship requirements. (Program Brochure)
