About the Library

The Library is located in the Learning Commons area on the main floor in room 1262.

The Library offers 40 computers with full printing, with an additional 25 in the adjoining Commons area. A copy machine and scanner, two reserve-able group study rooms, a Quiet room, a multi-media collaboration table, and charging stations are available.

Access to electronic resources on the Library page requires a StarID login when off-campus (AllData and Mitchell ProDemand are the only resources that are on-campus only). Checking out physical materials requires a student photo ID, state ID, or passport.

Mission

The Saint Paul College Library mission is to be the heart of Saint Paul College through commitment to exceptional service and content for our diverse, inclusive campus family. The library staff fully recognize the fact that Saint Paul College is the only hope for many people in our community and we endeavor to support the college as it closely partners with students to help them achieve their dreams. We pledge to uphold Saint Paul College’s mission and to exemplify excellent educational support by providing expanding cutting edge technology, print and electronic resources and access to local and global information resources.

Services

A collection of more than 179,000 books (over 161,000 of which are accessible anywhere, anytime), 158 periodicals, and over 23,000 streaming videos and DVDs includes subject areas such as liberal arts and sciences, business, computer careers, health, services, technical and trade. Departmental centers house approximately 5,000 additional books and resources.

The Library offers digital resources such as Films On Demand (over 28,000 streaming videos), e-books (over 154,000!), and millions of articles in its databases.

The Library is integrated into the MnPALS consortium, which provides access to over 100 other MnPALS libraries. This includes all Minnesota State Colleges & Universities campuses, some private colleges and state agencies, as well as many public library systems providing interlibrary loan.

Library Staff

Library staff are committed to fulfilling the Library mission through ongoing service and education. Library staff encourage full access to library information resources and services. Lifelong learning, critical thinking skills and ongoing information literacy are emphasized. Educational guidance is provided for both print and multimedia information resources. Ongoing individual and classroom instruction is provided upon request. The Library is also committed to be an informational resource and educational support to faculty and staff.
