Ground Floor construction moves forward

The Ground Floor renovation has begun, and LS Black Constructors was awarded the contract for Phase I.  The area to be renovated first includes: Welding, two Machine Tool shops, Iron Workers, Appliance Field Service Technology, Painting & Decorating, Construction Electricity, Culinary Storage, Sheet Metal, and Shipping and Receiving.  The project also includes constructing a connecting skyway link between the upper floors of the East and West Towers. The skyway link will include conference rooms on second and third floors with an open reception area on the fourth floor.  This entire project will take approximately 15 months to complete.

In addition to Phase I, during the 2006 Legislative Session Saint Paul College received funding to hire a design firm for the remaining areas of the Ground Floor.  Over the last few months we have been working through the State requirements to get a design firm under contract.  The College has again selected TKDA to design Phase II.  We will begin the design process in February so we can have construction documents completed by early January of 2008.
