Customized Training receives MJSP Grant

Saint Paul College and Gopher Resource Corporation will partner to implement and deliver lean manufacturing training and processes through a Minnesota Job Skills Partnership (MJSP) grant.  The grant, totaling $311,137, will also assist Gopher Resource in the development of recruitment and retention procedures to improve employee retention, create a more highly skilled workforce, and establish viable succession planning.

Gopher Resource Corporation is one of only 14 lead battery recycling smelters in the country and employs approximately 200 employees at its Eagan location.  Due to the rapid expansion of previously under-developed countries, the lead-acid battery industry is experiencing continued growth.  Yet on the other hand, increasing government regulations and restrictions is impacting their growth. This grant will help Gopher change and adapt to the ever-increasing demands of the global marketplace.
