New Anti Spam & Anti Virus Services

Saint Paul College has contracted with the Office of Enterprise Technology (OET), a state agency, to provide anti-spam and anti-virus services. This service went into operation on Thursday, January 11, 2007. The goal is to stop all spam sent to students, faculty and staff e-mailboxes. To learn more about this service, simply review "User Documentation" located at: http://iweb.itg.state.mn.us then click Mail.

As a result of this new service, confirmed junk e-mail will be immediately discarded/deleted at OET level and legitimate looking e-mails will be kept in a queue. You will receive a daily digest (via email) that will list all the queued messages under the Subject "Quarantine Notification". You will review the subject of each message and decide whether you want it delivered to your inbox or delete it. Please note that spam blocking is not an exact science and spammers are always coming up with new ways to beat the system. I, therefore, expect some spam e-mails to slip through this system but my hope is that it will be minimal.

This system also scans for the viruses, so we now have double or triple layer to combat and stop viruses from our network.
