Readus Fletcher appointed to Light Rail Advisory Committee
Readus Fletcher, a long-standing member of the Saint Paul College General Advisory Committee and advocate for the College, has been selected to serve as a member of the Central Corridor Light Rail Transit (LRT) Community Advisory Committee (CAC). The Metropolitan Council has named 42 community representatives to the Community Advisory Committee (CAC) for the proposed Central Corridor LRT project. The CAC will provide public input and feedback on such issues as possible changes in the alignment, the placement and design of stations, public art and plans to mitigate adverse impacts during construction.
The Central Corridor LRT line will connect downtown Minneapolis and St. Paul along University Avenue. The Central Corridor project is part of the Metropolitan Council’s 2030 plan for a network of rail and bus “transit ways” to serve heavily traveled corridors in the Twin Cities metropolitan area. The plan is intended to improve mobility, build transit ridership and slow the growth in traffic congestion.
As a community leader and advocate for Saint Paul College, Mr. Fletcher will be representing the interests of students, faculty and staff on the committee. He is a strong proponent for the LRT route that would locate a station on John Ireland Blvd. near the College.
