Theatre Arts transforms Saint Paul College Auditorium
Backstage at the Saint Paul College “Theatre”
Shakespeare. "All the world's a stage." (As You Like It)
As you walk by the Auditorium on Monday and Wednesday mornings, you will see the first group of students enrolled in SPCH 1720 - Exploring Theatre Arts. They will be learning about theatre production and participating in a number of theatrical performances. For three consecutive semesters, students have also been filling the online course offering, SPCH 1710 Introduction to Theatre, to learn about theatre in the Twin Cities and other areas. Both courses fulfill Goal 6 of the Minnesota Transfer Curriculum and expand the transfer curriculum options for Saint Paul College students.
In addition to the successful theatre courses, the Speech Department, with Dan Paulnock as the Department Chair, started the Speech & Theatre Troupe during Fall 2006. On Wednesday afternoons, the group will host “musical theatre films.” All Saint Paul College students, faculty, and staff are invited to come to the Auditorium on February 14 at 4:00 pm to join the group for an inaugural presentation of the film version of the Broadway smash hit, Chicago. Free popcorn will be provided. The group is also planning several trips to Twin Cities theatre productions during Spring 2007.
