Apprentices compete in national competition
Mike Connelly and four of his sheet metal apprenticeship students recently participated in the Regional Sheet Metal Apprentice Contest in Manitowoc, Wisconsin. These students were part of a group of fifty student apprentices from Minnesota who competed against other apprentices from Wisconsin, North Dakota and South Dakota. The contest areas included HVAC, Industrial, Testing and Balancing (TAB), Architectural, and Service work. The first place winner in each event advances to the national competition in Indianapolis.
Buck Paulsrud, Training Coordinator for Sheet Metal Local #10, coordinated the trip for the metro-area apprentices. His leadership was instrumental in providing the funding needed for travel and expenses.
Saint Paul College is fortunate to have a close working relationship with the sheet metal industry in the Metro Area. They provide employment and help recruit new students.
