February 2007

Ground Floor renovation progress

On Monday, January 29, 2007 the General Contractor and several of the subcontractors began the demolition phase of the renovation project on Ground Floor. Several hallway ceilings are being removed to gain access to the mechanical systems that require renovation.

Work will also begin on connecting our East and West Towers with the new walkways on the 2nd and 4th floors. This project may include some early demolition and construction where the walkways will connect with each tower.

The design plans for Phase Two of the Ground Floor renovation will also begin this month. TKDA, a St. Paul engineering, architecture and planning firm, has been selected to serve as the design consultants for this process. The plans created by TKDA will be used to support the funding request to complete the Ground Floor renovation. The 2008 Legislature will consider this request along with the other proposals from the Minnesota State Colleges and Universities system.

February will seem a little chaotic, as the contractors comply with a very tight schedule for these key areas. Your patience and cooperation is appreciated.
