President honors recipients at First Annual Awards Ceremony

On the evening of April 25, President Schwichtenberg presented the Wall of Fame and Friends of the College awards to Robert Haskins and Howard Guthmann, respectively. Each year the College inducts an outstanding alumnus into the Wall of Fame. This year, Robert Haskins, a 1975 graduate of the Machine Tool Technology Program received the prestigious award. Mr. Haskins has never lost his dedication and commitment to education and Saint Paul College. As co-president of Wilson Tool International, he has provided scholarships, internships and employment for our students. He is an active member of the Machine Tool Advisory Committee, and his company annually assists the program through annual contributions of supplies and equipment.

Mr. Guthmann, the first recipient of the Friends of the College award, has long been devoted to education and the Saint Paul community. In 1986 Mr. Guthmann and other Saint Paul colleagues had a vision to develop an organization that provides private financial resources to students attending Saint Paul College, and thus the Saint Paul College Foundation began. For twenty years, he served as the President of the College Foundation, which through his leadership, secured numerous gifts from foundations, individuals, labor, business, and industry.
