Wireless network upgrade
Over the summer 2007, we embarked on a major wireless network upgrade at the College. We upgraded all access points and installed a few more to provide uniform, stable and robust wireless coverage to the students and staff. Specifically, we installed a new Wireless LAN controller and implemented new wireless protocol known as Lightweight Access Point Protocol (LWAPP). In addition to a stable wireless coverage throughout the campus, this system will allow IT staff to manage the system more effectively and enforce the policies. IT staff will be able to detect and disable rogue access point centrally and monitor the users and usage of this system in real time. As the wireless use grows on campus, this system will fulfill the needs and expectation of the campus community very well and at the same time make the management of this system easy for the IT staff.
