The College is recognized as Sun Center of Excellence

Saint Paul College was recently recognized as a Sun Center of Excellence by Sun Microsystems Inc. in California. The Center of Excellence program is a partnership between Sun and educational institutions throughout the world. Saint Paul College and St. Thomas University are the only two institutions in Minnesota with the prestigious designation. The recognition of Saint Paul College as a center of excellence was the result of the hard work, determination and successes of Warren Sheaffer, Computer Programming faculty member, working with Sun Microsystems Thin-client technology.

The Sun Center will focus on teaching Java and Open Solaris technology and curriculum. This designation will give the College access to Sun Microsystems technologies, the latest developments from Silicon Valley, and support for curriculum and equipment in the Computer Careers department. An "unveiling ceremony" of the new Center will be held with industry and community leaders in February 2008.
