Now that we’re at the end of the third week of spring semester and the end of the month of January, we’ll welcome the month of February at the start of the coming week. We will be embracing longer days and warming weather. I am optimistic and hoping more sun will help all of us to stay dynamic and joyful!
Here’s a brief re-cap of what was happening last week with my activities as president.
On Monday, the College hosted Ramsey County Commissioner Rafael Ortega and his team. We toured the facilities and discussed programs that the College offers. This was a great opportunity to showcase the programs and opportunities we offer. Commissioner Ortega even tried the virtual arc welding training equipment in the lab. Saint Paul College is a fantastic asset in Saint Paul, Ramsey County, and the state of Minnesota. We play a key role in Minnesota's economic prosperity.
At noon, the College hosted a fundraising luncheon for the Greater Twin Cities United Way. Many thanks to our talented Chef Nathan Sartain and his students for preparing an all vegetarian lunch for our guests. And kudos to Chef Sartain who was on the panel of chefs discussing “Farm to Table: Strategies for putting local agriculture on the menu” at the Sustainable Food and Bioenergy Systems Seminar, January 29, 2015, at Montana State University.
On Tuesday and Wednesday, I attended off campus meetings. On Thursday, I attended a grant hearing with Minneapolis Saint Paul Regional Workforce Innovation Network (MSPWin). Later, I, along with several of our Management Team members, interviewed candidates for dean of Student Success, Persistence and Engagement.
On Friday, I attended a Charting the Future, Student Success Team meeting at North Hennepin Community College.
I wish you a productive week at the College and thank you for giving our College the opportunity to serve you.
