Anita Mills has been teaching at Saint Paul College since 2002 as the full-time Health Unit Coordinator instructor and program advisor. She also teaches medical terminology and CPR health courses at the College. Anita’s experience in health unit coordinating goes back to 1976 when she attended St. Paul Technical Vocational Institute and earned her Health Unit Coordinator certificate. She has worked in a health unit coordinator position since receiving her certificate. As an instructor, Anita enjoys bringing to the classroom and sharing with her students all her experience and knowledge of the health unit coordinator role. Along with teaching, she works occasionally as a health unit coordinator at a local hospital (through their float pool) which gives her experience in current healthcare settings.
Anita earned a bachelor’s degree in Organizational Management and Communication from Concordia University-Saint Paul in 2000. She is a member of the National Association of Health Unit Coordinator, Inc. (NAHUC) which is dedicated to promoting health unit coordinating as a profession through education and certification. Anita holds health unit coordinator certification status with the NAHUC, and is a NAHUC Education Board member. Anita attends the NAHUC Annual Education Conference every year providing personal and professional development and earning NAHUC continuing education hours.
