A Community Conversation – Moving Toward Healing

On Tuesday, July 19, 2016, Saint Paul College and the YWCA St. Paul hosted “A Community Conversation – Moving Toward Healing” led by Robin P. Hickman of Soul Touch Productions and Paul Williams of Project for Pride in Living. St. Paul Mayor, Chris Coleman; Saint Paul College President, Rassoul Dastmozd; and CEO of the YWCA St. Paul, Gaye Adams Massey also addressed the crowd.

With heavy hearts, the community and members of the Saint Paul Police Department shared openly concerns about race and justice. Through small group discussion, poetry and song, the group brought forth ideas to make our community stronger and to promote unity.

"The community conversation was a space where people who might never cross paths or have a chance to meet each other could talk safely about these issues and listen and hear one another” said Friends of Saint Paul College Executive Director, Laura Savin, “Our community is hurting right now and there seems to be never-ending feeling of helplessness. This event gave us an opportunity to learn from each other and discuss ideas of how we can all make a difference."
