Welcome Week Spring 2019

This has been a great first week of spring semester. It was terrific to greet our new and returning students – thanks for choosing Saint Paul College! Throughout the week, I attended several Welcome Week events, which included a Pancake Breakfast, a Hot Chocolate Social, and a Pizza Party. I am grateful to the Office of Student Life & Diversity staff of who coordinated these events, as well as our faculty and staff volunteers who helped serve the refreshments at each event.

I sincerely thank our dedicated and tireless faculty and staff who generously collaborate and construct bridges of hope, opportunity, and success for our students each and every day.

Minnesota has a persistent higher-ed gap: Are new efforts making a difference? Unless more residents get to and through college, the state won’t be able to fill jobs that require higher education, by Kelly Field, The Hechinger Report | 01/15/2019

I am sharing with you an article that was published by the Hechinger Report, and reposted by MinnPost. The article focuses on racial disparities in college attainment in Minnesota. The author, Kelly Field, reached out to Saint Paul College and other colleges and universities within Minnesota State during fall semester. She met with our students, Power of YOU Team, Marketing, Communications and Recruitment staff, director of Power of YOU and Make it Count, Institutional Research, Effectiveness/Planning and Grants team, and dean of Student Success. I am grateful to our team who conveyed information about Saint Paul College so well. Saint Paul College will be closed on Monday, January 21, 2019, in observance of Dr. Martin Luther King Day. I am reminded of a quote from Dr. Martin Luther King, “Our goal is to create a beloved community and this will require a qualitative change in our souls as well as a quantitative change in our lives.

College a special place for our students and our community. Thank you for sharing your leadership, commitment, passion, talent, and expertise with Saint Paul College and our students.
