Happy Father’s Day, to all of you who are a role model, mentor, coach or companion to a child. You truly make a positive impact on our next generation.
I offer my continued gratitude to the facilities team for their commitment and persistence regarding the ongoing renovations for the Culinary Arts Lab, and the Machining/CNC and Sheet Metal Labs.
We are busy working on the details for the new Saint Paul College Health and Science Alliance Center construction project. Here is a recap of my week’s activities:
On Monday, the College hosted leaders from the McKnight Foundation, Associated General Contractors, Saint Paul Builders, and Minneapolis Saint Paul Regional Workforce Innovation Network to discuss the College’s Construction Workforce System Change proposal and the Trading Up projects.
I also met with the President/CEO of Summit OIC to discuss workforce strategies, and the consultant who helped Friends of Saint Paul College with the development of Friends of Saint Paul College, Foundation Strategic Plan.
On Tuesday, Scott Wilson, our new VP of Finance, and I met with a religious affiliated organization that will soon become our neighbor. We discussed partnership opportunities for the communities we serve.
I attended the Minnesota State Colleges and Universities (MnSCU) Board of Trustees meeting via WebEx. Later, I attended the Charting the Future Recognition event at the Landmark Center. For more information, please view a video is available on the MnSCU YouTube channel at: http://youtu.be/yUqZFegzATkzing.
On Wednesday, I attended another MnSCU Board of Trustees meeting via WebEx. I also met with the College’s Executive Leadership Team. We reviewed strategies addressing Student Success, Narrowing the Achievement Gap (between students of color and white students), Student Graduate Employment Follow Up, and Enterprise Risk Management, which are areas of focus for the Management Team. More to come. Stay tuned.
On Thursday, I attended an orientation for all new United Hospital Foundation board members. I attended the Management Team meeting with the College’s administrative Team to discuss strategies to improve our advising program.
This week, the College hosted a Manufacturing Camp where we welcomed 21 young men and women from Saint Paul area high schools. The students participated in career exploration activities for manufacturing related occupation fields, as well as, pursuing their education beyond high school at the College. A remarkable number of parents attended. Both the students and parents were very impressive.
Today, I’ve spent time catching up in the office. Scott Wilson, VP of Finance, and I met with the MnSCU Vice Chancellor of Finance to discuss an overview of MnSCU.
It has been another busy, but meaningful week. I sincerely thank you for all you do to help our students succeed. If we do not take care of our students, who will? This is an exciting time to be at Saint Paul College!
I wish you a relaxing weekend.
