Kimmy Kistan left South Africa to pursue the American Dream, and she knew an important part of fulfilling this dream had to begin with finding a quality education. She contacted numerous schools throughout the Twin Cities metropolitan area, and the school that stood out from the crowd as making her feel most welcomed was Saint Paul College. And what made Saint Paul College standout was strong, service-oriented communications by staff who helped guide every step of her journey into college.
Kimmy’s first impression has now been validated over the past year by her teachers, staff, and fellow students, who consistently support her educational and personal journey. Ms. Kistan is active as Vice President of the Student Senate, where she enjoys helping other students succeed. She loves the leadership experience she is gaining outside the classroom as she has learned to overcome fears and embrace the opportunities to interact with other students and occasional visiting dignitaries, like Minnesota Secretary of State Steve Simon.
Beyond earning a quality education, Kimmy is excited to earn her college education debt-free through many financial support opportunities, including on-campus work and scholarships. She adds that the support system in place at Saint Paul College goes beyond financial to include excellent mental health services, free groceries, tutoring, and many other helpful services.
Kimmy plans to complete her 2-year Associate of Arts degree in December this year, then transfer to St. Thomas to pursue a Business Administration degree. As an uplifting, service-oriented leader, Kimmy’s future is undoubtedly promising wherever her next journey takes her.
