Saint Paul College A Community & Technical College

Partnering with Successful Career Transition Organizations

Photo of SPC staff and Rib Fest attendees at eventHelmets to Hardhats, the Minnesota Building Trades, and Minnesota Yellow Ribbon hosted their first annual Career Fair and Ribfest in Arden Hills on September 16. Saint Paul College sponsored and attended the event. Service members and their families were excited to see that we offer over 100 programs and proactively support service members, veterans, and their families through our Beyond the Yellow Ribbon Program.

The mission of Helmets to Hardhats is to help transition military service members into successful civilian careers in the building trades. Since 2003, they have collaborated with 15 international construction trade unions and helped over 40,000 military personnel successfully transfer into civilian employment in the construction trades. They are an effective 501c (3) nonprofit organization established to serve as a military transition from military to civilian long-lasting, meaningful, well-paying careers in the construction trades through their world-class apprenticeship education programs.

Other Minnesota Building Trades Ribfest Sponsors included unions, trades, and construction-related businesses. It was a great day to connect with construction-related partners, meet with many alumni, and work with prospective students looking to learn essential skills and begin careers in the construction industry.

Laura Tracy, a 2017 Saint Paul College alum from the Electrical program who now works with IBEW 110 Union for Electricians, shared:

I loved seeing Saint Paul College at the job fair/Ribfest event. The training, education, and support I received from this college allowed me to start working right after school, and help me pass my journeyman’s test on the 1st try after I completed my apprenticeship!
