In honor of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day, on Saturday, January 17, I attended the 7th Annual MLK Day of Service “Where Do We Go from Here?” at Minneapolis Community and Technical College, to celebrate the dream of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. The focus on community service at MCTC’s annual celebration is always inspirational.
On Monday, I attended the 25th Annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Holiday Breakfast. The keynote speaker was Vernon Jordan, renowned civil rights leader, who provided very powerful messages centering on the year’s theme of “Infinite Hope, Meaningful Action.” Volunteering and service was central to both events.
It reminds me of what Dr. King once said, “Life's most persistent and urgent question is, 'What are you doing for others?’”
That quote has resonated with me over the years. I believe that at Saint Paul College, we do what Dr. King emphasized. We are here to do good for our students and our community.
Thank you to all who serve others, not only at the College, but in your personal lives as well.
