Saint Paul College A Community & Technical College

Tenth Week of Summer Term 2015

Friday marks the last day of summer session. I am grateful to all of our students who took classes this summer. On behalf of Saint Paul College, thank you for giving us the opportunity to serve you. We look forward to welcoming you back on August 24 when classes begin again.

Here’s a short recap of my activities and meetings this week:

  • Caux Round Table (CTR) – I met with the Executive Director to discuss Saint Paul College’s important role in creating opportunities for Minnesotans by ensuring that our graduates develop citizenship skills - respecting diversity and promoting human dignity. We also spoke about the critical role that CTR plays in promoting a free, fair and prosperous global society through moral capitalism and responsible government.
  • United Hospital Foundation – The Board of Directors discussed priorities for fundraising.
  • MCTC and Metro State – Met with the interim presidents from Minneapolis Community and Technical College (MCTC) and Metropolitan State University to discuss collaboration, planning and efficiencies.
  • St. Paul Promise Neighborhood - Community partners gathered to discuss accomplishments and milestones from the past year, and plans for the future.
  • Labor Organizations – We hosted two Meet & Confer meetings with Labor Organizations at the College to discuss 2015-2016 academic year budget, Charting the Future initiative, communication, governance, and the design and construction of the new Health and Science Alliance Center.
  • Minneapolis Saint Paul Workforce Innovation Network – The Board of Directors met to discuss potential projects/applications for funding.
  • Culinary Arts Open House – More than 50 prospective students visited campus Thursday to learn about our Culinary Arts programs. They got a sneak peek of our new kitchen labs, met our expert faculty, and of course, got a taste of delicious cuisine.

Our dedicated staff worked tirelessly this week to ensure our students are completing registration for this fall. Thank you for all the hard work you do to help our students have a successful and smooth start. In addition, with the numerous major remodeling projects underway, I am grateful to our facility team, as they prepare us for fall semester.

Remember to take some time to relax, recharge and enjoy these beautiful summer days.

Have a great weekend,
Rassoul Dastmozd, Ph.D.
