The Chef Jack Chili Bowl: Where Good Food Meets Good Times for a Good Cause

Photo of SPC students posing at Chili tableThe Second Annual Chef Jack Chili Bowl celebrated good food, good times, and a good cause on Sunday, October 29. Held in honor of the late culinary icon and Saint Paul College benefactor, Chef Jack Riebel, the event raised approximately $20,000 for the Jack Riebel Memorial Culinary Scholarship.

“We started the ChiliBowl to build the Jack Reibel Memorial Scholarship,” said Andrew Reibel, Jack’s brother. “It has turned into an amazing relationship between our family, Saint Paul College, and the Culinary Arts Program. It feels like a true partnership, and it warms our hearts."

Each chef presented their unique take on the classic chili dish, with recipes as diverse and vibrant as Chef Riebel's culinary legacy. Culinary Instructor Chef Nathan Sartain and 12 culinary students assisted these gifted chefs.

Attendees voted Dahlia’s Nate Moser and Alex Althoff the “Best Chili.” The winning dish was a guajillo steak chili topped with cheese foam, bacon, and a cinnamon croissant stick. Britt Tracy won the “Student’s Choice” award for her collaborative approach and for inspiring our future chefs.

The field of entries was spectacular and included:
