The Eighth Week of Fall Semester 2015

Saint Paul College’s Human Resources Department has been selected to receive a 2014-2015 Minnesota State Colleges and Universities HR-STAR award for their design of our employee on/off boarding platform, as well as talent management. Congratulations to our HR Department and IT Services for their innovative work in designing a new platform, and thanks to all involved in this initiative! I am proud of the work you do.

Students are enjoying a break from mid-terms since there are no classes being held on October 15-16 due to the Education Minnesota’s professional development conference, now called the Minnesota Educator Academy (MEA). I imagine all will be refreshed by this break in routine!

Here’s a short recap of my activities and meetings this week:

Events on campus

  • High School Principals Breakfast - Saint Paul College hosted a breakfast for area high school principals to explore potential partnerships and intentional pathways from high school to college to promote student success.
  • City of St. Paul and Ramsey County Officials Luncheon - the College hosted a "thank you" luncheon for the Minnesota House Bonding Tour for City of St. Paul and Ramsey County. We are grateful to our elected officials for making wise investments in higher education for the prosperity of all Minnesotans.

Alumni Success – We’re always glad to hear about the successes of our alumni, and this week I met with a Saint Paul College alumna, who had been a Power of YOU student here, went on to Metropolitan State University and is now is headed to pursue her Pharm D. degree at one of the big ten universities! Our students are remarkable. We’d like to hear from our alumni – please share with us at

To our community partners, thank you for your continued support to the students we serve!

I wish you a much deserved, relaxing weekend.
Be bold. Be inspired. Be relevant.
