Third Week of Summer Term 2015

As summer term continues, so do our exciting construction projects. Many thanks to our facilities team for their commitment, dedication and persistence regarding the renovations for the Culinary Arts Lab, and the Machining/CNC and Sheet Metal Labs. To our patrons, students and associates, thank you for your patience and flexibility.

On Monday, I met with the Student Success - Charting the Future team to finalize three major goals and strategies including examining student success policies, use of technology as predictive analytics tools, and student advising.

On Tuesday morning, I attended a WebEx for the Minneapolis/Saint Paul Workforce Investment Network Steering Committee to discuss strategies for Workforce System Change.

On Wednesday, we held an all-day retreat on campus for the Cabinet and the Management Team. We discussed progress of the College’s Work Plan for 2014-2015, the College’s Work Plan for 2015-2016 and College priorities for 2015-2016. In addition, we initiated a group dialogue focusing on the Racial Equity Framework, and identified Management Team strategic projects for 2015-2016.

On Thursday, the Vice President of Academic Affairs and I attended an accreditation site visit for the College’s Pharmacy Technician program. The Saint Paul College Pharmacy Technician Training program completed their accreditation with the flying colors. I am grateful for the strong commitment of our Vice President of Academic Affairs, Health Sciences Dean, faculty members and students. For more information about Saint Paul College Pharmacy Technician program, visit. I also attended the United Health Foundation Special Committee meeting.

Today, I participated in the District Energy Board meeting and attended the Chancellor’s meeting with the Two-Year Colleges Student Organization Leadership Team at the MnSCU System Office.

I also had a chance to review the new State of MN Job Bill, which is headed for the Special Session. For more information, please visit

I believe that a strategic investment in higher education is essential to Minnesota’s prosperity and the economic health of our community, and is of particular importance to our students and their families. On behalf of our Saint Paul College family, we offer our humble gratitude for your support!

Thank you to our faculty and staff for facilitating life-changing opportunities for our students. If we do not take care of our students, who will? I am grateful to you all for your efforts and contributions to promote student success.

I wish you a relaxing weekend.
