Cabinetmaking student Mary McIntosh receives scholarship from Minnesota Subcontractors Association

On Tuesday, January 27, 2015, Saint Paul College cabinetmaking student Mary McIntosh was one of three students who received $1,500 scholarship awards at the Minnesota Subcontractors Association (MSA) 14th Annual Contractors of the Year and Scholarship Awards Dinner. The celebratory event recognizes leaders in the construction industry, and each year MSA presents construction industry students with tuition support from funds that are raised through their special events.

Frank Braswell, dean of the College’s Business, Career and Technical Education division, said it was a pleasure to be able to attend the MSA awards dinner, and see Ms. McIntosh’s success and dedication as a student be recognized by the Association. “Mary is a terrific student role model in the cabinetmaking program, with tremendous opportunity in her future endeavors. Watching Mary receive her diploma in May will be an inspiration and reminder to me of why I chose education as a career.”

On learning of Ms. McIntosh’s recognition as a scholarship recipient, President Rassoul Dastmozd said, “I am very proud of Mary and her accomplishments as a student in our cabinetmaking program. I also am very grateful to our faculty, staff, and administrators at the College who collectively provide opportunities for our students. As I have said many times before, we strive to create opportunities for our students, and encourage their success – for when they start here, they can go anywhere."
