Marcelus Ifonlaja received the “Governing Council Member of the Year,” while
President
Deidra Peaslee was awarded “College President of the Year.”
LeadMN is a college student organization committed to connecting students for change. They represent the 180,000 two-year college students in Minnesota with a mission of helping students transform their lives and their communities. Their four pillars include Leadership Skills; Empowering Leaders; Achieving Success, and Driving Change.
Marcelus Ifonlaja was recognized by the organization for his outstanding contributions to LeadMN’s Governing Council. During the awards presentation, LeadMN’s team described Marcelus as a diligent student who brings a strong sense of care and empathy to improving education throughout Minnesota.
Dr. Deidra Peaslee walked into a challenging situation as Interim President and quickly built relationships with students, faculty, and staff to move the college in the right direction. The Board of Trustees of the Minnesota State Colleges and Universities recognized her exceptional work and appointed Dr. Peaslee as President on March 17, 2021.
