Dear College Community,
As we end the Fall semester and start the winter break, I would like to take the opportunity to reflect on our intentional role at the College. That is, to assist our students with their journey to success. At Saint Paul College, our multicultural environment enhances the educational and employment experiences of our students, as well as our faculty and staff. We are seamlessly engaged in learning from one another. Events around the world remind us how important it is to show respect to each and every member of our college community, regardless of their background, heritage or experience.
In light of what we hear in the media, cultural inclusiveness and intercultural competence are something we need to practice and embrace each and every day. We need to value our students’ and each other’s unique contributions. These practices are essential to our work and are needed now more than ever before.
Let's continue to turn these words into intentional actions and focus on our purpose. We are a unified community, with the common mission of “Education for Employment, Education for Life.” Please remember that we, as a caring community of educators and practitioners, play an important role in the community by fulfilling our promise of "if our students start here, they can go anywhere.”
Since 2011, as the President/CEO of Saint Paul College, I have had the remarkable privilege of serving our students, staff, faculty, team of
administrators, and community partners, as well as the employers of our graduates. I am truly blessed to be a servant leader at Saint Paul College, the most diverse college in Minnesota. It has truly been an honor, and the opportunity of a lifetime. Every day, as I walk around our campus and through the hallways, I am reminded of how fortunate we are to be a part of such a diverse a college community that includes people from all over the world, from many backgrounds, heritages, and experiences… a beautiful tapestry of humanity, who come to us in search of life transforming experiences. Our students trust us with their future, and as a community of caring of educators, I encourage ALL of us to go the extra mile and not leave any of our students in the "deep end of the pool" towards the end of fall semester.
Wishing you much success and fun this week and in the weeks to come. Thank you for your effort and contribution to the Saint Paul College community.
