TRIO Student Support Services
What is TRIO SSS?
TRIO Student Support Services (SSS) is a college success program for nontraditional aged students (25+) currently attending Saint Paul College who will earn an Associate’s Degree and who plan to transfer to a four-year college or university. TRIO SSS provides individualized advising, transfer planning, team-building & leadership development, and a supportive community focused on empowering students to succeed at Saint Paul College.
What will Student Support Services students do?
TRIO Student Support Services students will be actively engaged on campus. They will be involved in student clubs and associations, work on campus, and serve as leaders in the classroom and community. TRIO students will benefit from a structured program of individualized advising designed to ensure that they have well-developed academic and career goals, will access the campus resources they need to be successful, and will have opportunities to explore their passions and interests. In addition, TRIO students will attend events including: study skills and academic success workshops; transfer visits to 4-year colleges and universities; cultural activities; and other special events designed to help them be successful while studying at Saint Paul College.
To qualify for the TRIO Student Support Services program, you must be a U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident, currently enrolled in an Associate’s Degree program at Saint Paul College, be age 25 or older, and meet
one or more of the following requirements:
- Low-income (guidelines set by U.S. Dept. of Education)
- First generation (neither parent or guardian has earned a bachelor’s degree)
- Registered with the Saint Paul College Office of Access & Disability Resources
- Tutoring in math and writing
- Academic advising, career planning and major exploration
- College transfer planning
- Visits to four-year colleges & universities
- Workshops on various topics, including academic success and financial literacy
- Social and cultural events
- Scholarship and grant opportunities

TRIO Student Support Services Application or pick up a paper application in the TRIO Center, Room 1365. Please fill out your application completely and turn it in at the front desk in the TRIO Center.
Students will be contacted to schedule an initial 30 minute application interview with TRIO Student Support Services staff for further consideration of your application and eligibility.
