Chromebook Checkout Process

  • Chromebooks require a wifi connection in order to work.
  • By checking out a Chromebook from the Saint Paul College Library, you agree to the checkout requirements which include the following:
    • Semester long check-outs
    • Damages to the Chromebook or Chromebook case will be assessed a fee, up to the replacement cost of the case or device. Damage includes obvious physical damage or tobacco-smoke effects.
    • Dirt or food on the Chromebook could be subject to a $15 charge.
    • If the Chromebook is not returned on time, the user will be assessed a non-refundable $15 charge per every day not returned. After three days of non-return, the replacement fee will be charged to the users account.
    • If the charger or cord are not returned, the user will be charged a $50 fee.
    • Must produce a State ID or Passport and sign an agreement upon first checkout.

HotSpot Checkout Process

  • Mobile Beacon HotSpots provide wifi to anywhere in the Sprint coverage area (the entire Metro area should be covered – see coverage map here​).
  • By checking out a HotSpot from the Saint Paul College Library, you agree to the checkout requirements which include the following:
    • Semester long check-outs
    • Damages to the HotSpot will be assessed a fee, up to the replacement cost of the case or device. Damage includes obvious physical damage or tobacco-smoke effects.
    • Dirt or food on the HotSpot could be subject to a $15 charge.
    • If the HotSpot is not returned on time, the user will be assessed a non-refundable $15 charge per every day not returned. After three days of non-return, the replacement fee will be charged to the users account.

iPad Checkout Process

  • By checking out an iPad 2 from the Saint Paul College Library, you agree to the checkout requirements which include the following:

    • Damages to the iPad or iPad case will be assessed a fee, up to the replacement cost of the case or device. Damage includes obvious physical damage or tobacco-smoke effects.
    • Dirt or food on the iPad could be subject to a $15 charge.

VR Viewer Checkout Process

  • Experience the easy way to get into virtual reality – check out a Google Cardboard viewer at the library.
  • You need to provide a smartphone – the viewer will not work without one.
  • Semester long check-outs
  • Like any other item, the patron will be charged if Viewer is lost or damaged

How does it work?

  • Scan the QR code on the side to download the app, or download “Google Cardboard” from the Google Play or iTunes store.
  • After launching the app, place your phone into the box.
  • Follow the on-screen instructions.
  • The magnet “toggle” on the side is for selecting when needed. Pull it down and release. PLEASE DO NOT LOSE IT.
  • Many other apps – both free and paid – are available. Some noteworthy ones:
    • Titans of Space – an interactive tour of the solar system
    • Sisters – a very scary experience
    • Caaaaardboard! (paid) – a parkour-like game
    • VRSE – documentary films
    • Roller Coaster VR – do not play if you are easily motion sick
    • Seene – lets you take 3D images with your phone, view and share them
    • Lamper – you are a firefly that flies and gets coins
    • Lost in the Kismet – an “escape the room” experience
    • Google Street View - same street view, but you are immersed in it
