Is connecting with like-minded students important in your educational journey? If yes, Saint Paul College offers many student-led organizations that bring our students together for support and inspiration. Getting involved outside of the classroom reinforces and expands the learning that takes place in the classroom. Student organizations and interest groups create a space for you to further develop your particular interests and explore new ones while connecting with your peers.

One of the new growing groups is Cru & Bridges, which Odhette Abusa, an international student from the Democratic Republic of the Congo, leads along with faculty member Daniel Gala. Cru & Bridges aims to be a caring community with meaningful connections and encouragement for Christian students desiring to grow in their faith and all students seeking to explore questions about God and their faith.
Student Leader Odhette Abusa shares that this club is “very welcoming, and students from all faiths are welcome to attend.” She enjoys hearing from students of other faiths as the group focuses on fellowship and uplifting each other in their personal, academic, and spiritual lives. Odhette adds, “We work with students to help them lower their stress, which is helpful in their individual journey, as there is more to life than academics and work.” She appreciates that the group focuses on giving interested students a warm sense of belonging, where they can be seen, heard, and understood.
Gozel Rahymjanova, another international student from Turkmenistan and past SPC Student President, felt lonely and isolated before joining this group. She describes faith as a big part of her identity, and having an open forum to discuss these issues in a supportive environment is liberating. Gozel appreciates how the group validates and respectfully listens to all newcomers without judgment. The group believes that life’s big questions and day-to-day concerns matter and affect your life experience, and they are there to help and encourage their fellow students.
Faculty member Daniel Gala is excited to work with Cru & Bridges as the Faculty Advisor. He loves watching student confidence grow as they address real-world issues and concerns. Daniel appreciates this group’s rich culture, with many international students who embody the diversity of SPC. Mr. Gala has seen other student-led organizations be instrumental in helping students feel connected and grow in a safe place, and he shares this thought:
Student organizations provide opportunities for students to form communities that resonate with their personal and professional growth.
