The demand for pharmacy technicians is stronger than ever, with job growth projected at 6% annually over the next decade. This surge is driven by the increasing need for medications and medical supplies – and with it comes the challenge of keeping up with evolving regulations and industry standards.
To help students stay ahead, the Minnesota Society of Health-System Pharmacists hosts an annual conference that connects future technicians with the latest trends in pharmacy practice. From legislative updates and new medications to mentorship and networking opportunities, the event serves as a hub for professional growth.
For SPC Pharmacy Technician student Saw Samuel Min, attending the conference was a turning point. “It was an inspiring experience that allowed me to connect with experienced pharmacists and pharmacy technicians,” Saw shared. Surrounded by knowledgeable professionals eager to help others succeed, he left feeling motivated and confident about his future.
The conference reinforced the hands-on skills Saw had gained in SPC’s advanced lab simulations, including:
- Entering prescriptions into pharmacy software
- Precisely counting and measuring medications
- Managing billing processes
Beyond technical skills, Saw gained insights into real-world situations, professional communication, and the significance of quality patient interactions. These lessons highlighted that success in pharmacy isn’t just about accuracy – it’s about professionalism, responsibility, and building trust.
“Surround yourself with those who lift you higher!” Saw says this mantra reflects his commitment to growth and excellence. With SPC’s training and the knowledge gained at the conference, he’s ready to make a meaningful impact in the pharmacy field.
