Saint Paul College has named United Hospital, part of Allina Health, as its 2026 Community Partner of the Year, recognizing the hospital’s outstanding partnership and deep commitment to student success. The award was presented at the college’s annual Friends on the Lawn celebration.
United Hospital has played a vital role in advancing workforce pathways for Saint Paul College students by providing high‑quality clinical placements, mentorship, and clear entry points into meaningful healthcare careers across the Allina Health system. The partnership reflects a shared commitment to education, workforce development, and strengthening the regional healthcare pipeline.
“United Hospital exemplifies what it means to be a true community partner,” said Saint Paul College Dean of Health Sciences Cara Garrett. “Their engagement goes beyond clinical placements. They invest in our students as future professionals and leaders, and that impact is felt across our programs and throughout our community.”
Special recognition for Dan Klescewski
As part of the award, Saint Paul College offered special recognition to Dan Klescewski, Manager of Surgical Operations at United Hospital, for his exceptional leadership and advocacy for students.
Klescewski serves as Chair of the Sterile Processing and Surgical Technology Program Advisory Committee, where he helps shape curriculum, ensure strong industry alignment, and champion student success. His involvement includes participating in mock interviews, securing donations that support hands‑on learning, and expanding clinical opportunities for students.
Nine years ago, when we first partnered with the team at Saint Paul College, the legacy this program would create made the decision easy. This program develops professionals with integrity, knowledge, and skill—along with the heart to serve our community during its most vulnerable moments. That mission aligns closely with United Hospital’s values.

Klescewski’s leadership reflects not only personal commitment but also the broader values of United Hospital and Allina Health as partners in building a skilled, compassionate healthcare workforce.
Saint Paul College has recognized outstanding Community Partners since 2007, honoring individuals and organizations that demonstrate exceptional dedication to student success and workforce development. Recent recipients include Kitchen Coalition, Gaye Adams Massey, and Erica Schumacher.
