Despite the hot and humid weather on July 9, 100 golfers gathered at St. Croix National Golf Course to support the Tom Nielsen/Mo-Tech Endowed Scholarship Fund, raising more than $7,000 for Saint Paul College CNC Toolmaking students.

Tom studied CNC Toolmaking at SPC, then spent his career at Mo-Tech Corporation, where he started as a shop cleaner in 1982 and retired as the business’s President. Outside of toolmaking, Tom loved golfing and fishing with friends and family. His passions are what inspired his family to establish the TNT Golf Tournament, and through their hard work, the community has celebrated and remembered Tom.

The 19th Hole: Activities & Dinner

The TNT Golf Tournament offered competition, camaraderie, and philanthropy. After the golfers tallied their swings, Team Smooth Jazz — Grant Riessen, Jake Pederson, Max Schwartzman, and Miles Strommen — took first place. The celebration continued at the clubhouse, where guests enjoyed food and contests. They could test their putting skills at the Bottle Putt Course, where they could win spirits donated by Twin Point Tavern & Liquor Store. For guests ready to swing big, they could try their luck at the 19th hole by landing a shot nearest the pin. The winner earned a $1,000 cash prize.

As the temperature dropped and the sun sank below the trees, the raffle began. A lucky few won premium-seat tickets to a Minnesota Vikings game, a fishing and hunting trip with four guests in South Dakota, and more.

Fundraising: The Impact

The day ended with more than $7,000 raised for the scholarship, fresh tan lines, and a few incredible prizes.

As a thank-you, each golf team received a keepsake photo sponsored by Tradition Wealth Management.

Due to the incredible support and enthusiasm from sponsors, guests, and volunteers, we created another outstanding golf tournament that will provide valuable scholarship opportunities for future CNC Toolmaking students. As the tournament continues to grow, its impact on student success and workforce development grows right along with it.
