Request for Graduation

Students must apply online for graduation, regardless of whether they plan to participate in the graduation ceremony. The College will grant an Associate of Arts Degree, Associate of Science Degree, Associate of Applied Science Degree, diploma, or certificate to students who have satisfied the following requirements:

  • Completed the total required credits listed within the program plan for a specific program with a cumulative grade point average of 2.0 (C average).
  • Completed the online graduation application
  • Fulfilled all financial obligations to the College and is approved for graduation by the Registrar.

A graduation ceremony is held in May for students completing their programs during the academic year.

Degrees, diplomas, and certificates are conferred by the President to the graduates from Saint Paul College under the authority of the Minnesota State Colleges and Universities Board of Trustees.

The College reserves the right to post degree completion to the student’s academic record upon the verification that all degree requirements have been satisfied.

Graduation Residency

A student shall earn a minimum of 15 credits for all associate degrees at Saint Paul College.

One-third of the credits required for a diploma, certificate, or the Minnesota Transfer Curriculum (MnTC) must be earned at Saint Paul College.

Time Limits for Graduation Requirements

General education courses shall have no transfer time limit. Technical courses applying toward an Associate in Arts degree shall have no transfer time limit.

Technical credits are valid for five years. This includes transfer technical credits which are used for specific technical program requirements. Technical courses that are beyond the five-year limit may be accepted, depending upon currency, relevancy, and the student’s current work experience.
