A RESIDENCY PROGRAM FOR COMMUNITY

Join us IN/PLACE.

IN/PLACE is a residency program for community builders—advocates, artists, alumni, and archivists—who want to co‑create connection, creativity, and student-centered experiences at Saint Paul College.

About IN/PLACE

Program Overview

IN/PLACE is built on collaboration, creativity, and community partnership.

Over two semesters, residents join Saint Paul College as partners—working alongside students, faculty, and staff to build projects, relationships, and experiences that strengthen belonging on campus. Each residency is shaped by the resident’s expertise and the needs of our community, making every year unique and co‑created.

Who We Are Recruiting

We will select up to three residents for the 2026–2027 pilot year. Applicants may express interest in more than one residency area. We are recruiting:

  • Advocate‑in‑Residence: Community connectors who support dialogue, civic engagement, and systems navigation.
  • Alumni‑in‑Residence: Graduates who want to make pathways visible through mentoring, storytelling, and career navigation.
  • Artist‑in‑Residence: Creatives who use making, performance, or design to build connection, meaning, or belonging.
  • Archivist‑in‑Residence: Memory‑keepers who preserve voice through oral histories, exhibits, or digital archiving.

IN/PLACE welcomes applicants with lived experience, community knowledge, creative practice, or professional expertise. No formal credentials are required.

What You’ll Do

Residents participate in a mix of cohort gatherings, collaborations, campus engagement, and a signature project. All residents—regardless of focus area—will:

  • Take part in two cohort meetings each semester
  • Develop and lead one project or program each semester
  • Offer office hours or informal drop‑in opportunities
  • Collaborate with at least one class, student group, or faculty partner
  • Contribute to storytelling or reflection, such as Campus Bridge features, blog posts, or oral histories
  • Share highlights and lessons learned at the Spring 2027 showcase

This mix ensures residents stay connected, visible, and meaningfully engaged with the campus community.

Time Committment

The residency spans two semesters, each lasting 16–18 weeks:

  • Fall 2026: August 24 – December 18
  • Spring 2027: January 11 – May 14

Residents should plan for an average of 2–3 hours per week.

This is an average, not a fixed weekly schedule—some weeks will be lighter, while others may be busier depending on events, collaborations, and project timelines.

Stipend

Residents receive a $4,000 stipend for the full two‑semester residency. The stipend is paid through a professional services contract and disbursed in four equal installments, aligned with key moments in the residency:

  • Mid‑Fall 2026 — $1,000
  • End of Fall Semester — $1,000
  • Mid‑Spring 2027 — $1,000
  • End of Residency (Late Spring 2027) — $1,000

Payments are based on successful participation in the program and completion of residency milestones, which will be confirmed with residents before the program begins.

This structure ensures residents are compensated throughout the residency and supported in completing their projects and collaborations.

Eligibility

IN/PLACE is open to individuals with community knowledge, creative practice, lived experience, or professional expertise. No formal credentials are required.

Applicants must:

  • Be 18 or older
  • Be eligible to work in the United States
  • Commit an average of 2–3 hours per week during each semester
