When Aicha Sangare graduated from high school in Burkina Faso in 2022, she dreamed of continuing her education. Motivated by her dad’s love for learning, she moved to Saint Paul to live with her aunt and enrolled at SPC – a college she selected after thorough research for its high-quality education and affordable tuition.

Initially, Aicha envisioned a future in the biomedical field. However, after talking with her cousin, she realized that accounting might be a better match for her love of math and financial management. She switched majors and began her journey with enthusiasm, except for one thing: she was shy.

But here’s the turning point: Aicha decided that shyness would no longer define her. Gradually, she started saying “yes” to opportunities to join groups and connect with others. She joined the Karaoke Dance Club (even though singing in front of people was scary), became a Student Ambassador, and connected with the Women’s BIPOC group. Each step boosted her confidence.

Her biggest leap? Running for Student Senate President. She didn’t win, but she gained something more valuable: courage. Today, Aicha is a proud member of the PTK Honor Society with a 4.0 GPA. She says:

Anyone who works hard, stays organized, and believes in themselves can achieve a 4.0 GPA.

Aicha plans to transfer to the University of St. Thomas in the Fall of 2026 to earn her accounting degree and a master’s in finance. Her ultimate goal? Becoming a CFO at one of the top five accounting firms in the US. With her newfound confidence, she knows she can achieve it.
