Word and Outlook Basics

Most of your assignments will be written in Microsoft Word. Almost everything the College needs to tell you will arrive in your Outlook email. This workshop covers both, so neither one costs you a grade.

In one hour you will cover:

Word

  • Formatting a paper so it looks the way your instructor asked
  • Saving your work and finding it again
  • Sharing a file or attaching it to an assignment
  • Using spelling, grammar, and citation tools before you turn it in

Outlook

  • Reading and organizing your Saint Paul College email
  • Writing a clear message to an instructor or an office on campus
  • Setting up your calendar so you see deadlines coming

This is a hands-on workshop. You will practice as you go, and there is time built in for your questions. No question is too basic. Everyone starts somewhere.

Bring a laptop if you have one, and bring your questions. If you do not have a laptop, you can still follow along and ask what you need to ask.
