Imagine stepping into your first welding class, sparks flying as you shape metal into something new. Picture yourself preparing prescriptions as a pharmacy technician or coding your first successful program. You’ve registered for classes, your supplies are ready, and you’re eager to begin. But what if there was a way to ease the financial burden without relying solely on loans?
The Workforce Development Scholarship
Picture receiving a $1,250 scholarship each semester that goes directly toward tuition, books, and supplies. The Workforce Development Scholarships, established by the Minnesota Legislature, empower students in advanced manufacturing, construction, healthcare, IT, early childhood development, and vehicle technician programs to focus on mastering their craft rather than financial stress. Over four semesters, that’s $5,000 supporting your journey from classroom to career.

Not every student in Technology, Healthcare, Trades, or Education will be awarded a Workforce Development Scholarship. For the 2026-2027 academic year, Saint Paul College has just over 80 scholarships for qualified students. Students looking to apply must meet these eligibility requirements:
- Be a Minnesota Resident (recent high school graduates and adult learners are eligible)
- Register for at least nine credits each semester
- Meet Satisfactory Academic Progress standards
- Enroll in an eligible program
