    Career Services at Saint Paul College assists students and alumni with career development and employment. We work closely with faculty and employers to identify opportunities that use your valued education while meeting the needs of today’s ever-changing marketplace.

    Appointments

    Current students and graduates of SPC are welcome to meet with a member of the Career Services team. Appointments are strongly encouraged and may be scheduled using any of the following methods:

    Future (prospective) students are asked to wait to schedule an appointment until they have been admitted to the College, completed New Student Orientation and met with their assigned Pathway Advisor.

    Focus 2 Career is a self-guided career and education planning platform designed to help you make decisions about your career goals and education plans. Take assessments and explore options that align with your interests, skills, personality and values.

    CareerOneStop.org: Explore career options, view “day-in-the-life” videos and set career goals

    O*NET Online is a database of 900+ occupations with detailed descriptions, requirements and employment data

    Meet with a Career Services staff member for assistance with career assessment interpretation, career exploration and other career related advising. Appointments are strongly recommended.

    Handshake features:

    Flyers from local business are posted on the Career Services bulletin board near Counseling & Wellness

    Select local businesses may recruit on campus in the tabling area near the cafeteria. A schedule of businesses recruiting on campus is posted on the Career Services bulletin board each week.

    Get Hired Fast contains on-demand videos that coach you through the entire job search process, helping you avoid the biggest job search mistakes and help you get a job you love, faster and easier!

    Career Services Optional Free Course on D2L contains career advice handouts, example resumes, links to recorded webinars and additional resources. This course should show in your course list (currently enrolled students only); contact Career Services if it does not.

    Career and Academic Planning


    What is CAP?

    • Student-Faculty mentorship program with a series of activities and events to help with career and academic planning
    • Advice, encouragement and support from faculty, college staff and industry leaders
    • Support for setting career and academic goals

    Benefits of participating:

    • Increase confidence and skills through development and exploration of careers
    • Increase sense of belonging with peers and faculty
    • More targeted guidance on academic/career planning

    Eligibility:

    • Enrolled in at least 6 semester credits at Saint Paul College
    • Eligible Majors
      • Biology Transfer
      • Chemistry Transfer
      • Engineering Broad Field
      • Science and Engineering Technology
      • Computer Science & Programming
      • Surgical Technology
      • Sterile Processing
      • Medical Lab Tech
      • Respiratory Therapy
      • Data Science
      • and students interested in these degrees OR interested in a science or health career path (AAS health science programs that are direct patient care related/4-year degree)

    Expectations:

    • Use your student email and/or D2L to stay informed on program activities, events and announcements

    Requirements:

    • Submit a signed consent form and mentoring plan each semester in the program
    • Answer survey at least one time per semester
    • Meet with your assigned faculty mentor at least two times (phone, video conference, or in-person)
    • Communicate with faculty mentor to keep them updated on plans.
    • Attend at least four co-curricular events per semester. These are designed to help students gain skills, learn about careers, investigate transfer options, or attend field trip to see relevant companies in action.

    Successful completion of all requirements:

    • Monetary stipend
    • Eligibility to serve as a CAP mentor in subsequent semesters.
